If you've read any of my other blogs you have probably gathered by now that I love organising. Filling, sorting emails, organising desks and yes I love to organise a good party or event too.

Adults at a party event

Everybody loves a good party, right? If you've ever had to organise a large party or event you know how stressful it can be... the venue, the food, the entertainment.... the list goes on. Collecting peoples menu choices or RSVPs, catering for dietary requirements, providing entertainment for both children and adults. Coordinating all of the elements and making sure everything is all right on the night! I absolutely love doing this... so I have decided to add it to my business as a new service.

I first realised that I loved organising events after creating a joint birthday party for my children when they were little. I loved every minute of it, from sourcing the venue and entertainment to finding caterers, and creating a theme. I even loved stuffing the party bags! Don't get me wrong it was stressful, but that's because it was my kids party and I had the most demanding of customers to deal with!

Since then I have gone on to organise parties for both adults and children, from fun kids birthdays to formal and corporate events.

So here are a few of my top event organising questions for you to consider when planning your event:-

  1. What is the party/event for and do you have a theme in mind?

  2. How many people will be coming?

  3. Venue - do you need to hire somewhere?

  4. Catering - buffet? Sit down meal? Dietary requirements?

  5. Entertainment - music, magician, caricaturists?

  6. Stationary - do you need invites and place cards designed?

  7. Decorations - does the venue need decorating?

  8. Budget?

  9. Communication and organisation on the day for caterers/entertainers/venue/staff

  10. Wrapping it up - After the event, payments for any services and 'Thank you' emails/letters

I hope this helps you to get started with organising your party. Don't forget to take the time to enjoy your occasion. Have some fun.
